Chess in the Crypt · Five Dead Challengers
How to Play
- Standard chess, all of it: castling, en passant, promotion, stalemate, the fifty-move rule and threefold repetition.
- Click a piece to lift it, then click a square to place it. Drag works too. Legal squares light up cyan; a captured square shows talon corners.
- Face the Dead pits you against one of five challengers, from the Acolyte who forgets what it just saw to the Necrarch who has already read the end of the game.
- Share the Slab passes one board between two players on this device. Send a Summons gives you a six-character code to play someone on theirs.
- Beat a challenger to post to the board below. Higher challengers rank above lower ones, and a faster mate breaks the tie.
- Nothing here costs anything and nothing is wagered. There are no Bone Chips at this table.
The Acolyte waits. Newly raised, and it shows.
The board never turns on its own. Hand the device across when your move is played.
Seal a Summons
You take the Bone side and receive a six-character code. Read it out to whoever you are playing.
Answer One
Type the code you were given. You take the Void side and move second.
A summons keeps for one day, or until the game ends.
